Drawing # daylight

Southern Pacific GS4 Daylight No. 4449

Probably the most well-known American steam locomotive ever, Southern Pacific's Daylight number 4449 pulled the American Freedom Train during its cross country tour back in 1975-76 before being repainted into its original orange, black and silver livery.  Now owned by Doyle McCormack, this regal locomotive still occasionally polishes modern rails on special excursions. Shown below, it is simmering at Portland Union Station in May 1981, awaiting the high-ball to depart westbound to the 1981 Sacramento Rail Fair.
