Santa Fe SD40-2 No. 5201Manufactured by Electro Motive Division of General Motors, the SD40-2 locomotive was one of the most popular diesels ever produced and was popular with most all American railroads during the 1970's through the 1990's. The SD40-2 is easily distinguished from other six-axle locomotives by the extra space between the car body and the ends of the frame (the "front porch" of #5155 is obvious in the photo below). Santa Fe SD40-2 number 5201 is the subject of my drawing. Number 5201 is one of 14 SD40-2 locomotives built for the Santa Fe in 1978.
